Since childhood we all had dreams of becoming something – an airforce pilot, a dancer, Spiderman and even a shopkeeper selling choclates 😀. Weird na..but yes we all had some dreams.
Time passed and our perception of life changed and so our desires and from long term they turned into short term and finally they became many. Besides desires, we also started fearing from many things and various other thoughts also became our part. And this act of desiring and acquiring has not even stopped today.
If we go back in the past and analyse, what has happened to majority of the dreams or desires we developed over time? Were we able to achieve those? Not all for sure and in most of the cases the result must be far short of the expectations.
Why it often happens that we fall short of what we actually desire? I too failed many a times or shall I say most of the times and even if I got it was too late. But answer was far from me..
Then I got hold of one book which changed everything. ( I am not telling the name of it😃)
See our brain is like computer or shall I say computer is conceptualized like brain. The purpose of the analogy is as follows- a computer has many simultaneous threads in memory at a moment but cpu access or work only one thread at a moment. Then it chooses another process depending upon its type or priority and execute it, and this continues to happen. Our brain does the same, it keeps all the processes or wants or dreams, fears or anything which we had thought and and has gave importance, in the memory just like a computer. But with a variance i.e. it has kept all we we had ever thought and thinking today as well and may be we had thought in the other life as well. So it has all of the collection which we can remember and which we even can’t remember. And this mind keep on processing them just like a dumb computer. And for us this life seems to be a movie for which we have not bought the tickets.
What a mess isn’t. Who knows what I have thought when I was 5 or even 10 or 20 or in another life….
But how to overcome this? Understanding the cause of problem is one part of the puzzle, but we need to solve it as well.
The medicine to overcome this disease is – a single unwavering AIM in life. An aim which does not fade with time but whose intensity grow with time, an aim for which we can do anything, an aim for which we can even forgot this body as well.
But does this ‘AIM’ is not another desire? Yes it is, but now this is the only one, no new will be created and at each moment our efforts will be to achieve the same. This continuous desire will eventually leads to increment in its priority and surely a day will come we will see it happening 100 percent the way we wanted.
But its not that simple because the other desires, thoughts or fears which were there will surely keep on executing and we would find it difficult to keep our thought focussed on the AIM and may start to desire to overcome the same. This will again lead to the same problem and we may not be able to strengthen the AIM we have now and due to this it will get delayed. Then what to do? It may sound philosphical but keeping calm at these moments and not wishing anything more is the key. We just need keep our focus and attention on the AIM we have and this will liquify the affect the problem we may have.
Therefore, let’s AIM something bigger and stop thinking and desiring more because you know ..All is in mind.

Very Well thought of !!
Sounds like a very much familiar story for everyone in today’s practical & busy life, I guess..
Life is just stuck between Short-term & Long-term goals and each goal has its own priority. As rightly put across by you, Long-term Goals are truly identified as AIM of life, for which, one should strive hard every time he makes an effort towards achieving it. Short-term goals can be managed quite easily, if the priorities are absolutely clear in our minds !
